September means Back to School! This will be the second fall, that I will not return to teach. Or back to school at all, for that matter. It seems I have spent such a large part of my life either studying or teaching! Although I miss some of the aspects of teaching, I am definitely enjoying my retirement!
I now have time to focus all my energy on the things I love most-art and travel.
I’ve been quite busy with my art in the past month.
Aside from preparing materials for this new website, which I’m very pleased with, I’ve completed quite a few new paintings.
For fun, I painted the surface of a small end table, which had been left at the side of the road.
Several weeks ago, I visited friends in Toronto.
As well, I bought some amazing handmade papers (made in Nepal and Japan). Because some of these papers are transparent and also textured, I’ve experimented with painting on both sides, producing interesting results! I’m considering layering 2 or 3 paintings together to achieve a 3-dimensional effect.
In addition to continuing to produce my paintings, I’m toying with ideas of transforming some of them into fabric. A large part of my past art was done using printmaking techniques, especially Silkscreen.
I hope that you are enjoying a browse through my website. Updates will occur regularly.
