Description
Thailand is an original collage created during my memorable stay in Chiang Mai, Thailand—affectionately known as “the Land of Smiles.” Inspired by the rich culture and natural beauty of the region, this piece combines airbrushed lotus imagery with hand-drawn elements in coloured pencil and graphite.
Original Collages
As with all my Lotus collages, I incorporated cutouts of airbrushed lotus flowers prepared in advance of my trip. Before traveling, I pack a compact portfolio filled with painted Lotuses, paper, coloured pencils, scissors, and glue—my portable studio.
Thailand and Lotuses
Lotuses, symbols of spiritual awakening and inner growth, have been the heart of a collage series developed during my travels to Hawai’i, Thailand (2015), and India. This series includes 4 pieces made in Hawai’i, 7 in Thailand, and 5 in India. Prior to these journeys, I painted over 100 Lotuses in preparation.
Created in the peaceful hills outside Chiang Mai, Thailand captures not only the visual essence but also the personal joy and serenity I experienced during this journey—winding roads, rice fields, waterfalls, and moments of reflection with friends in their mountain home.
The size of this collage is 30 cm x 46 cm. It is unframed and mounted on foam core.
