I’m excited to share a new trio of mixed-media pieces inspired by the vital role pollinators play in sustaining Earth’s ecosystems. Each piece begins with my hand-dyed fabrics and evolves through layers of photography, and digital texture — exploring transformation, connection, and the quiet work that keeps the natural world alive.

Interwoven Flight * Metamorphosis *Nocturne for Pollinators

“Interwoven Flight”
At the center of Interwoven Flight is a deep blue printed fabric featuring a partial photograph of a monarch butterfly — a grounding image around which the entire composition gathers. Layered over this square are three sheets of translucent cheesecloth, each carrying abstracted wing-like forms in warm yellows and reds. These shifting layers soften the photographic image and create a sense of movement, as if the monarch is passing through multiple moments of its own flight.

Their three-dimensional presence brings the monarch’s migratory arc into physical space. Throughout the work, fine running stitches in white and pale blue trace paths across the surface. These lines echo the monarch’s long north-to-south journey, mapping routes of motion and memory. The piece brings together photography, dye work, stitching, and sculptural elements to reflect the endurance, fragility, and layered beauty of pollinators in migration.
