Metamorphosis

I’m excited to share a new collection of three mixed-media wall art pieces centered on the vital role pollinators play in sustaining Earth’s ecosystems. This fibreart piece is entitled Metamorphosis.
Each piece begins with hand-dyed fabrics, layered with photography, origami elements, and digital textures to explore themes of transformation, interconnection, and the unseen work that keeps our living world in balance.

“Metamorphosis” explores transformation as both an ecological and personal process

Using photographs of my hand-dyed fabrics and my butterfly/cocoon shadow boxes, I build digital layers that echo the textures of growth, enclosure, and emergence. The cocoon becomes a metaphor for the invisible labor that sustains life — the silent, ongoing work of pollinators and the delicate transitions they embody. By merging the tactile with the digital, the piece reflects how fragility and resilience coexist in natural systems. “Metamorphosis” honours the unseen beauty within change — the moment when stillness begins to move, and life begins again.

ARTIST STATEMENT:

My work explores transformation and interconnection through layered materials and imagery. Beginning with hand-dyed fabrics and origami forms, I merge them digitally to create spaces where texture and light echo natural rhythms. In this Pollinators series, butterflies, cocoons, and other pollinators emerge from fabric surfaces as symbols of renewal and balance. The work reflects on the crucial role pollinators play in sustaining Earth’s ecosystems — quiet labor that holds the living world together. By weaving the tactile with the digital, I seek to honor both their beauty and their essential, often unseen work.
