Branding my business

Branding my business is something which I thought about for awhile. Branding includes having a professional logo designed, one which reflects who I am as an artist. My art is intrinsically connected to who I am as a person.

These days, when online marketing and exposure is vital to any artist, the necessity of taking this step was evident

As an artist, I have explored various mediums for many years and eventually, the medium or discovery evolves into a new approach. Throughout my art career, beginning from my art school days, I have made the shift through various art techniques. I have spent years learning about a particular technique and gleaning whatever I could, until a natural progression to something else occurred.

The core of my personal style has always been evident. Anyone who knows  me and my art over the years can easily recognize my artistic style

Textile design is something I’ve come back to after many years. It also relates to some of my other inquiries such as print making.

Thus, my logo design created by a graphic designer, is very personal.

As I’ve always preferred organic shapes as opposed to geometric ones, my logo has a circular, undulating shape

The centre of it looks like a bloom, which represents shibori resist technique. The navy colour of this bloom is indigo, which is most often associated with shibori dyeing. However, my discoveries are embracing a large spectrum of natural dyes and surface design techniques.

Surrounding this shibori bloom is an interlocking graphic representing a snake. In Latvian mythology, this grass snake symbol is called “Zalktis”.

This symbol represents wisdom, resourcefulness and curiosity

The choice of blue and green as my main colours is due to my love for water and nature, representing where I live, on Georgian Bay.
